No key appears in my address bar. How else can I save my login/password info.?
Presumably through an automatic update, Firefox has rendered invisible all the login info, that I had kept under bookmark properties, yet doesn't allow me to use the Password Manager because no key appears in my address bar. Please tell me how to view my properties again and/or help me use Password Manager without a key icon. Thanks.

Have no idea about a key icon as I do not place faith in that.
I gather you were using your Bookmarks notes to keep stuff.
Export them as your should have been doing for years
You can drag and drop them into any browser window to view them. Should show your notes but will not be pretty.
Should export to copies of HTML one for the Notes, one in case need your bookmarks for some strange reason like a crash, hard drive failure.
Please see this question for more info :
These will take notes but have to start from scratch/also no idea what is going on with this experiment :
Info from the Help --> About --> What's New page : Removed the description field for bookmarks. Users who have stored descriptions using the field may wish to export these descriptions as html or json files, as they will be removed in a future release.
So back to the key thing, I suspect it a separate problem that occurred. Please figure your Notes out and if still need help after dealing with the notes please ask.
Thanks pkshadow. I've been exporting/backing up my bookmarks for years. What I need now is an app that will allow me to store the login/username and password info. in a manner that permits me to 1) update it and 2) consult it at least as efficiently as I could when I recorded it in the description field of each, related bookmark. Since login info. gets obsolete fast and is forever requiring new aliases, I need a storage app that I can access and update easily and rely on (not a test version). Thanks again.
If you are in Private Browsing mode then you won't be able to save a new password and Firefox won't show the key icon.
Make sure you do not run Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode (Always use Private Browsing mode; Never Remember History).
- Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security
Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history" - remove checkmark: [ ] "Always use Private Browsing mode"
