When using the new upgraded firefox browser in my win 7 and linux mint environments, I have had issues with my tabs refusing to close and then having to force close my browser window. I hope that there is no mining software or some other script running in the background that causes this.

thanks for any help.

Hi freegold, if you suspect there could be rogue software running in your Firefox, I suggest checking your extensions first.

You can view, disable, and often remove unwanted or unknown extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a (Mac: Command+Shift+a)
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
  • type or paste about:addons in the address bar and press Enter/Return

In the left column of the Add-ons page, click Extensions.

Then cast a critical eye over the list on the right side. Any extensions Firefox installs for built-in features are hidden from this page, so everything listed here is your choice (and your responsibility) to manage. Anything suspicious or that you just do not remember installing or why? If in doubt, disable (or remove).

From time to time a well established add-on suddenly gets "monetized" so even if you have had an extension for a while, if you can live without it for 24 hours, try disabling it.

Any improvement?

Hi, no my new browser doesn't have any ext or apps yet. I just wondered if the new browser downloaded with something like that. thanks for the info, also.
