Firefox is suddenly blocking sites which I've used for years (with Firefox) and which I need; I'm certain they are safe. Why is this?

Hi Steve Charters,

Use these steps to manage Content Blocking exceptions in Firefox:

  • Open Firefox.
  • Click the Settings hamburger button in the top-right corner.
  • Click on Options.
  • Click on Privacy & Security.
  • Under the “Content Blocking” section, click the Manage Exceptions button.
  • Select the website that you want to disable tracking.
  • Click the Remove Website button.
  • (Optional) Click the Remove All Websites to block tracking for all sites in the list.

If it doesn't solved your problem, then feel free to ask in Reply Section. Thanks for raising your question in Mozilla Support Forum.

hello Steve charters,

i hope your site is a safe,

This might be an issue with "Certificate issued by a authority belonging to Symantec".

Please note that if your sign-in information is saved in your web browser, this may not automatically fill in on our new sign-in page. However, most browsers will allow you to retrieve and view saved passwords. Instructions for major browsers can be found below: Google Chrome Mozilla Firefox Safari Microsoft Edge/IE"

I checked and the new address is now showing up in the address bar.

So it looks like the problem was on their end and its solved.

Thank you !

Dear Shashank Shekar - thanks for your time on this. I'm sorry though - that doesn't really help. I'm sorry if I'm stupid, but I have no 'hamburger' in the top right. I have a list of options (e.g. privacy protections, new window, add-ons, preferences etc.) but no 'Privacy and Security' tab and nothing on content blocking or managing exceptions. I've searched both of these in Firefox but nothing comes up.

Best wishes,

Steve

Dear Arman

Thanks for a prompt reply. I've done as you said but it doesn't work. Firefox is now blocking access to my bank - a major bank in this country which I've been using successfully online for 6 years. If this doesn't stop then I'm going to have to - very regretfully - leave Firefox as suddenly so many regular sites are unavailable.

Best wishes,

Steve
