Hi. I have a mail server. The most clients use Thunderbird. They connect via IMAP. The problem is getting 0 byte files after download attachments from some letters. In some cases it is useful to close, wait a few minutes and open Thunderbird, but often nobody can download attachments form some "bad" letters from any computer. It is not LAN problem because other attachments can be downloaded at the same time. IMAP server is Cyrus. I read about the same problems, but i did not find decision.

Usually it is anti virus scanning corrupting the mail before you see it.

It is not antivirus i think. I can reply the message or save it as MSG or EML file and then i can open it in Outlook
