SO frustrated. Had to have a computer replaced by Dell. Lost EVERYTHING, but at least I had backups, including an html backup of my bookmarks. I transferred over my profile, which didn't work NEARLY as smoothly as before, as I lost auto login info, and bookmarks. Fortunately, I also had backed up my bookmarks from the old computer into a bookmarks.html file.

I've tried the "open library, use import function" and choose my bookmarks.html file crap, and it imports them into the library they are stuck there and are not easily accessible. There IS no "library" button anymore, BTW, which means all of your directions are wrong now too. All the shortcuts I had on the bookmarks toolbar are gone gone gone, despite my "importing from html file." They are in the library, but not accessible.

Something is missing in the steps that I've tried. If I go to the three lines and then bookmarks...there is nothing there but the "getting started" and "get involved" ones. WHERE ARE MY BOOKMARKS?? I can go to manage, and then get to the library, but that's THREE steps to do something that use to only take ONE step.

What's missing? I just want my bookmarks back. Is there a json file I should be transferring that I don't know about? Or some other method of restoring these bookmarks to their accessible location without having to go all the way to manage bookmarks?

What do you mean with They are in the library, but not accessible ?

In what way are they not accessible ? You may have to copy or move bookmarks to the Bookmarks Toolbar folder if they currently are in the Bookmarks Menu folder or the Other Bookmarks folder.

In Firefox 87+ the Library and the Home button aren't present by default on the Navigation Toolbar and you need to drag them out of the Customize palette to the toolbar.

You can toggle the Bookmarks Sidebar via the "Ctrl+B" keyboard shortcut. You can toggle the Bookmarks Toolbar via the "Ctrl+Shift+B" keyboard shortcut. The keyboard shortcut to Open the Library is "Ctrl+Shift+O".

The old Library toolbar button (four books icon) wasn't that useful. Instead, I suggest using the optional Bookmarks Menu button. You can find in the Customize panel and drag it to a spot on the main Firefox toolbar. See: Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars.

By the way, you posted from what appears to be the Extended Support Release of Firefox 91 rather than Firefox 98. Maybe that is on a different computer? But my general comment would be: if you are trying to use a Firefox 98 profile in Firefox 91, file format changes made during the intervening versions could have changed in a way that is not downwards compatible.
