why don't the Firefox ESR updates install on my computer anymore - it won't go past 102.5
Dear Friends, Why don't the Firefox ESR updates install on my computer anymore - it won't go past 102.5? I keep hitting the download, then install the file and restart Firefox and even the computer sometimes, but it will NOT install the new versions.
Why?
It always has in the past. Now I can't access my online banking due to their security measures. Very upset!
Please help me. Thank you.

Firefox 102.5.0 is still current for 102 ESR. Firefox 102.6.0 will be released Tuesday next week (Dec 13th).
Latest release notes:
Thank you for your quick reply.
I have that version on my computer, yet every day I get a Firefox "install update" box, it downloads a file but will not install if even after restarting.
My bank says that the minimum Firefox that I can use is Foxfire 107.
If 102.5 is current, why do I keep getting the update Firefox box every day?
102.5.0 is current for the ESR update channel. For the regular release update channel 107.0.1 is current. The ESR versions are normally meant for organizations that do not want to update to a new major version very often as this requires a lot of testing.
If you want to use the latest release then you can install the full release version.

If possible uninstall your current Firefox version to cleanup the Windows Registry and settings in security software.
- do NOT remove "personal data" when you uninstall the current Firefox version, because this will remove all profile folders and you lose personal data like bookmarks and passwords including personal data in profiles created by other Firefox versions
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
- (64-bit Firefox) "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\"
- (32-bit Firefox) "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\"
- it is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling
Your personal data like bookmarks is stored in the Firefox profile folder, so you won't lose personal data when you reinstall or update Firefox, but make sure NOT to remove personal data when you uninstall Firefox as that will remove all Firefox profile folders and you lose your personal data.

Thank you so very, very much for your incredibly detailed and helpful reply.
I would rather not change to the regular Firefox from the ESR one, due to all the complications that you mentioned.
Today when I turned my computer on and opened Firefox ESR - I got the "download an update" box again, as I do every day.
Why do I keep getting that message when my Firefox ESR is up-to-date?
Thank you for your help!

You can check that your startup pages aren't set as multiple homepages.
You can check the homepage setting in "Settings -> Home".
Firefox supports multiple homepages separated by '|' (pipe) symbols.
Does your bank allow to proceed with the Firefox 102 ESR version and does it work properly with that version as 102 ESR is supported by Mozilla ?
Thank you for your continued help! Here are the screen shots of what I see when I open Firefox and also my bank browser out-of-date page.
Firefox won't update to 102.5 from 102.3 and my bank won't let me log in at all.
I only have one homepage - not multiple ones.
You get the update window because you appear to be using 102.3.0 and not the current 102.5.0 release. Each time the Firefox release updates then 102 ESR updates as well, but that is about the minor version 102.x.0, so you need to install 102.5.0 to get the latest version

Can you proceed with Firefox 102 ? If not then you will have to install the 107 release version. Note that this Tuesday 108.0 will become released and and alongside with this 102.6.0.
Thank you for your response.
I have been trying to install the update for a long time now - for some reason, it will not install on my computer. I hit the download button and then restart Firefox when it tells me to but doesn't install the update. It has been driving me crazy. I have been using Firefox for a very long time (perhaps close to twenty years now - or longer) and I have never had problems updating Firefox before.
I do not want the regular Firefox, I wish to stay with the ESR - when the split first happened years ago I chose ESR so that Firefox would remain like it was instead of changing its look.
It seems that the bank will not accept the ESR version. I have to talk to them, but it is so very hard to actually talk to anyone in business anymore (everyone wants to do emails not talking to help people these days.
I am afraid that I will lose all my bookmarks and preferences if I were to switch - plus I like tried and true rather than cutting edge changes in software - especially a browser. You gave very detailed instructions on what to do to change to the regular version, but I am afraid I will mess it up. I don't have any techies to help me anymore. My husband died a long time ago and the techie who helped me for years after he died has been very sick for about three years now.
I don't understand why my Firefox won't update anymore.
If you can't install an update then the normal procedure is to download the full version and install this version. You can boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support to see if that allows to update.

Firefox 102.5.0 ESR:
Thank you for your reply.
I don't understand why I have to reboot in Safe Mode, especially since it may open the door for malware to take over my computer.
If I install Firefox ESR again, will I lose my bookmarks and other preferences?
