Why on many sites do I need to enter the back request twice before it goes back to the previous page? I am using Mac OS 13.4. This happens on both my M1 Mac Mini and my 14" M1 Pro Mac Book Pro. Surfing the web has become time consuming with FireFox. I have no problem with Brave, Safari, Edge and Duck Duck Go browsers.

Are you using (content blocking) extensions that might be adding extra entries to the Tab history list ?

You can open the Tab history list by holding down the left mouse button on either back/forward button or right-click the button.

Start Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration or if userChrome.css/userContent.css is causing the problem.

  • switch to the Default System theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Troubleshoot Mode start window
