I live in the UK and recently when going to the BBC.co.uk I get the website as BBC.com after a few seconds. I know that I usually see .com when overseas and this is normal. Why has this started happening while I am still in the United Kingdom?

Are you using a VPN or proxy that may be modifying your IP address to one that appear to originate outside of the U.K.?

That's interesting. Maybe BBC has a "blacklist" of VPN exit nodes that non-Brits use to view their content?

No idea, it's very annoying though. If I want to see my local British version of the BBC website I have to turn off my VPN

I am in the UK as well, so I can appreciate the frustration with the .com version of the site.

As I understand it, if you do not appear to be in the UK, you are served the "international" version of the site.
