I downloaded the update; then Firefox says I need to restart and when I do it tells me I need to download the update. But I already did?

Further info: The website says download it, then when you're prompted, drag the icon to your Applications folder. But I haven't gotten that prompt.

  • Download a new copy of the Firefox program: http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html
  • Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re)install.
  • Install the new version that you have downloaded.

Your profile data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data.
