I visit sites using the application x-vlc-plugin" which is unrecognised in firefox 4 MAC, works fine in the previous version. tried installing vlc-plugin-0.8.6i-intel.dmg and vlc-plugin-1.1.5-intel.dmg, firefox shows the video window with message additional plugins are required to display media on this page but even with the latest plugin no video shows.

There seems to be a 32/64 issue with the VLC plugin on OSX. I've worked around this problem by enabling "Open in 32 bit mode" option on the FireFox application. Open the "Finder", browse to the "Applications" folder, select FireFox, right click to open the context menu and select the "Show Info" item and activate "Open in 32 bit mode". After restarting FireFox the VLC plugin showed up again on the about:plugins page.
