After clicking the remove button in manage search engines, Firefox 8.0.1, the OK button will not respond. The remove button does work, the OK button is locked, only on software112.com All other search engines can be removed normally.

Not successful. I installed and ran them all. Ad Aware infected one file in my registry so I deleted that file, then ran regedit and removed anything that said Lavasoft or Ad Aware. I had used Ad Aware before and now I remember why I don't use it. I run Spy Bot every week, I use AVG for antivirus and Comodo for a firewall.

We're getting there. Obviously software112.com has something on my machine but I can't find anything in the registry or on the hard drive. This is a tough one. Thank you again for your efforts. Your thoughts added to my toolbox.

I wouldn't quit so I ran up the computer with a slave drive clone I had made a week ago. I opened Firefox from there and software112.com was absent from the Search Engine drop down menu. I then ran Firefox from the master drive and it too was absent software112.com Finally I ran up the master without the slave present and it was fixed. Huh? Beat me but I appreciate your help. Thank You.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Try to rename search.sqlite to search.sqlite.old in the Firefox Profile Folder.

You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:

  • Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Open Containing Folder

Not successful. I started in Safe Mode and tried to remove software112. Then I changed to the default theme and tried in Safe Mode and Normal Mode. I renamed search.sqlite.old and tried again default theme, in Safe Mode and Normal Mode. Only software112.com is giving me this problem

Thank you for your efforts. They are most appreciated.

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.
