in ubuntu 11.10 scrolling web pages is jerky and slow

while browsing sites in firefox (ubuntu 11.10) the pages become slow while loading and while scrolling is jerky and clumsy. with the same system when i use google chrome the pages load faster and are less jerky. in windows there is no problem in firefox. please provide solution. thanks my sys p/4 666 mb ram, nvidea graphics card mx400
