Why are animated GIFs in Firefox 11 slow? I downgraded to Firefox 10 and the animated GIFs suddenly play fine again, so I am positive that the update messed up the playback delay of animated GIFs somewhere.

Self-explanatory. I am positive that the GIF I am viewing is faster than what it's supposed to be. I viewed the same animated GIF in another browser and it plays fine. It just plays slower in Firefox 11. I downgraded to Firefox 10 and the animated GIFs were fine again. I upgraded back to 11 and yet again the animated GIFs slowed down. This happens for all of my animated GIFs.

I like viewing my animated GIFs, and since I don't have any problems yet with Firefox 10, I'll be sticking with it for a while...

Try to disable hardware acceleration.

You know, I saw that exact same answer on some questions I saw here already. I'm beginning to think you didn't read the entire question I posted...

Anyway, your suggestion didn't work. And yes I have the latest drivers for my graphics card.

Like said above, it only happened when I installed Firefox 11. IF I DOWNGRADE TO FIREFOX 10, EVERYTHING BECOMES FINE.

Can you post a link to a GIF image that isn't working?

Try starting Firefox 11 in Safe Mode. See if works there. If it does, it is either Hardware acceleration or add-ons. We can diagnose after you get back with the results.

Just tried it; GIFs are still slow.

Actually, I noticed something. If I view the pictures individually, the pictures become slightly faster, but still not the speed they should be.

Again, in Firefox 10 they always play at the correct speed regardless of where it is and how large it is (resolution)

How much difference do you see?

Is the animation rally slow or is there only a slight difference?

What is the CPU load during the animation?

more options

The animation goes around 75% of its original speed.

CPU Usage, from 0%-3%, rises to around 5% to 7% when viewing a tab with only the animated GIF in it. And since we're on the subject on memory usage I might as well post these http://puu.sh/m58X http://puu.sh/m592

Same issue here. I've tried a few settings and nothing helps. Shouldn't be performance issues in my case either, I have a beast of a computer and not many resources are being sucked up by any of the gifs I try (besides the general amount of RAM FF uses).

Yes I have exactly the same problem, and it has NOT been solved yet in Firefox 14. Please Mozilla, what is the use releasing more and more "major upgrades", Firefox 11, then 12, then 13, then 14 (one per month !) if you don't even care to fix the big problems ? That is just marketing crap, nothing more. You guys used to do amazing job, but the new policy is just unbearable, no offense meant : you need to react !
