Why would people use Firefox?

more options

Firefox has created more problems with my computer than you can imagine.

1. Malware installed at Firefox whereas it never happened with IE,

2. Streaming not available while IE has no problems

3. Flash player messing up FIrefox,

4. Not compatible with Roboform,

5, Not compatable with certain aspects of AVG anti-virus.

4. etc.

There are nothing but problems with this browser, so why do people use it? I'm taking the darn thing off my computer but was wondering why someone would use it.

This is a support site and your post seems like trolling. Did you want assistance with something?

Perhaps you've had "nothing but problems" but for my part, I find Firefox faster and more productive than IE8, and for the work I do, the add-ons range from very useful to essential.

To address your numbered points:

(1) What malware did you install?

Add-ons can be a blessing and a curse. There are many toolbars or other add-ons that turn out to be disruptive or annoying. Often these appear when you install third party software outside of Firefox. If you take advantage of powerful security add-ons like NoScript, you can have the safest experience on the web using Firefox.

(2) What site doesn't stream? Also see #3.

(3) If you read the Flash support articles (Flash 11.3 doesn't load video in Firefox, Adobe Flash plugin has crashed - Prevent it from happening again) you can avoid the conflicts between Flash 11.3 and particular Firefox add-ons/settings.

(4) The latest version of RoboForm is compatible with Firefox. But yes, I know, RoboForm users who bought version 6 object to having to buy version 7.

(5) AVG has discontinued its older add-ons in favor of a new "AVG Secure Search" feature. Not everyone loves it. Either way, AVG continues to run at the system level even if there are not add-ons in Firefox.

To Whom It May Concern: (answers to your questions below.)

1, Malwarebytes

2. Roboform: My current version of RoboForm I have is 7.7.8.8 I have been notified that it is disabled and blocked due to incompatibility with Firefox.

3. I uninstalled Flash Player, as recommended by your site, and went to a lower version (10). I've had nothing but problems with Project TV despite the fact that IE plays it just fine. This process took me over 2 hours to get done.

4. With relation to AVG, I do not know anything other than the prompt stating that it is incompatible with Firefox.

I appreciate your reply but, at times, it might be better to remain with something that you know is stable and reliable. i.e. IE

Thank you for your reply.

I'm not sure what you mean about Malwarebytes -- there is a legitimate product named Malwarebytes Anti-Malware which you can get here: http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free. However, there could be an impostor version; it's wise to research your security tools carefully before installing.

Regarding Roboform, if you still have an old add-on on your system from an earlier version of Roboform, you may need to remove it and reinstall fresh following this FAQ: http://www.roboform.com/support/faq/roboform-v7#faq_firefox.

Regarding the TV site, if you want to work further on that, you could follow-up in your earlier thread: Why Doesn't Project TV woek with IE but not Firefox? I tried the "Proxy" suggestion with no results.

If Firefox 13 can't be made to work for you, you could try back again in about four weeks when Firefox 14 is released and see whether that works better.
