I watched a video on facebook and tried to save it to my desktop. The file showed up as 0bytes and named facebook.mp4. then it repeats and downloads every time I start Firefox. It will download the file with the same results. How can I stop this action from taking place every time I start Firefox.

Maybe your home-page is pointed to that file? Change the home-page to "about:home" by going to the Firefox Menu>Options>General>Home Page and set it to "about:home"

I noticed your system information lists a couple different downloaders. You might check whether there is a way to clear any queue of pending downloads in those add-ons. Perhaps try the Options button for each extension on the following screen, or whatever other dialogs they use.

orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons > Extensions category
