Problem with Javascript - can't update it.
I am running Java 7 (u51) which I am told by their site is out-of-date and needs updating. However, when I download the latest version and attempt to install it, an error message tells me that it's already installed and asks if I want to overwrite it. If I do that, a message saying "This action is only valid for products that are currently installed." Is there some straightforward way of updating Javascript? I am running a 64bit HP Pavilion Laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium. I am running the current version of Firefox. Thanks in advance.

Are you able to use the built-in updater? In the Windows Control Panel, look for Java (32-bit), which is in the Programs category. On the Update tab, try Update Now to get 7u60.
You can uninstall the current Java version via the Windows Control Panel and install Java by using the full offline Java 7u60 installer.
You can find the latest 32 bit Java versions on the Oracle website. See Java Platform > Java SE 7u55/8u5 (JRE Download; 32 bit for Windows)
I found the Java (32-bit) entry in Control Panel, but it didn't seem to do anything when I clicked on it. From what I can see, because my laptop is a 64bit machine but Firefox is a 32bit application I need both 32 & 64 flavours of Java. I'm a novice at this so, so please excuse my fogginess.
