Firefox will detect add-ons that are registered on your system. Check your lists carefully to disable or remove those that you do not want.

Open the Add-ons page using either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

(1) In the left column, click Plugins. To disable those that you don't plan to use, change "Ask to Activate" to "Never Activate".

(2) In the left column, click Extensions. These are easy to disable if unknown or nonessential. If there is no Remove button, then you typically need to visit the Windows Control Panel, Uninstall a Program. I suggest clicking the "Installed on" column heading to group by date. This can help reveal bundled crap that snuck on along with something free that you wanted. Take out as much trash as you can here.
