I am currently running Firefox 42.0. I am unable to access google.com and Firefox is running very slow at times (e.g. ~20 seconds to load a page). Using internet explorer I can access google.com and load web pages within a few seconds. When I try to access google.com I get the following message "This Connection is Untrusted" without an option to bypass. I restarted Firefox in safe mode with add-ons disabled and also refreshed Firefox but I still have the issue. I do not have a anti-virus application installed. After the refresh I have to add an exception to use yahoo.com (i.e. I understand the risks add exception).

"c. Uninstall Firefox from Windows Control Panel go to "start"->"run" and type %appdata% then find folder named mozilla and delete it."

Step c. worked and now I can access google.com and Firefox is no longer sluggish.

Yes, previously I did uninstall Firefox via the control panel. This time I uninstalled via the control panel, deleted the "mozilla" folder and restarted my machine.

Ok assuming that your date and time is correct try to disable your Antivirus. Then try to access google. If your problem is solved then you should uninstall you security software and firefox as well and perform a clean installation of both.

All Antivirus interacts with browsers by sending them fake certificates. So its capable to filter the traffic sending to and from the site you visit

I don't have an Antivirus application installed.

I uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled version 42.0 just a few minutes ago. I still have the same problem.

did you Unistallled from Control Panel? If so, new installation keeps also your old profile.. Assuming that sth is wrong with firefox you could a. Start Firefox in safe mode. Press the Windows key + R (open the Run command) and type firefox -safe-mode If the problem is solved then one of your extensions is causing the issue. b. Try to refresh firefox follow the instructions in this link https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/refresh-firefox-reset-add-ons-and-se... c. Uninstall Firefox from Windows Control Panel go to "start"->"run" and type %appdata% then find folder named firefox and delete it. Careful this will delete all you personal data (bookmarks passwords favorites etc). Then reinstall firefox.

If none of the above work i am afraid you might have an operating system issue or a worm.

Does the same happens with other browsers as well?
