Firefox crashes quite often during a day , many crash report's have been sent but no reply's or fixes . This started with the last two UPDATES and contuses to date. OS is Win 7 , I am currently using GOOGLE Chrome (which is not crashing ) to have a usable browser. Any ideas or fixes , patches ?

We're sorry to hear that Firefox is crashing. In order to assist you better, please follow the steps below to provide us crash IDs to help us learn more about your crash.

  1. Enter about:crashes in the Firefox address bar and press Enter. A Submitted Crash Reports list will appear, similar to the one shown below.
  2. Copy the 5 most recent Report IDs that start with bp- and then go back to your forum question and paste those IDs into the "Post a Reply" box.

Note: If a recent Report ID does not start with bp- click on it to submit the report.

(Please don't take a screenshot of your crashes, just copy and paste the IDs. The below image is just an example of what your Firefox screen should look like.)

Now this is interesting ! Firefox crashed 4 times yesterday and once this morning. But from what I'm seeing on the report log, only one report was sent yesterday and several other day's are the same.

fdmumsp.dll = Free Download Manager

flvsniff.dll = Free Download Manager

I have been having these same shutdown crashes. Mine are caused by Free Download Manager (all programs) and the Norton Toolbar. Disable them in the Add-ons Manager.

Well, I do have "FDM" running in the background (it also run's when I'm using Chrome ) , I've had "FDM on this computer for 2 years now and not had any trouble as I've had since the last 2 update's of "Firefox". If the two programs are no longer compatible then there is something wrong with "Firefox" . Being on a satellite ISP , FDM is almost a necessity !

I agree. What I now have to do is get the video source link and give it to FDM manually. Complex, but it works.

When to fix error which to report? I have to modify browser?

I do not use FDM but I guess it is not necessarily a fault of Firefox if it does not operate with FDM. If one of the issues is trying to download programs at particular times and that is what FDM is needed for would it be possible instead to start Firefox at a scheduled time using some other utility (or even the Windows OS).

I have tried all of the above, still NO JOY. I have even gone as far as uninstalling FDM and rebooting, same thing.

I have been using "CHROME" exclusively the last few day's even though I don't like it near as well as I do Fire Fox , but it hasn't crashed. Interesting thing is that Fire Fox act's the same way on my Lap Top , both on Win 7 , both with the latest version of Fire Fox.

Go figure ???

John,

Can you make this clear for me. Are you trying to tell me that on this and other computers Firefox still crashes even when you have FDM uninstalled.

If so please let us have recent Crash IDs from such a crash.

John99: That is correct, two separate computers both running Win 7 same problem. FDM on both and has been uninstalled and rebooted same condition.

I have not run FF for several day's now , been using "CHROME" with no trouble , will be late next week before I can use the laptop again and then will be on it for 3 week's straight while on business will try to gather data for you then. Tnx, John
