Can't disable pop-up notifications w. self-destruct cookie app. My app manager has no preference button, and Options button only yields an unhelpful article.
The firefox FAQ instructions for disabling the annoying pop-up notifications of cookies self-destructed say to open the add on manager and: "Locate Self-Destructing Cookies in your list of extensions, click the Preferences button and remove the checkmark next to "Notifications". Problem: There is no "preferences" button. There is an "options" button, but when I click on it, I just get the article about Self-Destruction cookies. There's no place to uncheck notifications. Thank you.

There are a number of user review complaints about that add-on with Firefox 46.0 that are related to "settings" or "options". https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/self-destructing-cookies/reviews/
I don't use that add-on so I can't help you, but I suggest you email the developer of that add-on and ask for support from him using the Support E-mail button on this page. I suspect that add-on may not be completely compatible with Firefox 46.0 https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/self-destructing-cookies/
Thanks for your response. However, I don't find any "Support Email" button on this page, so I'm unable to contact the add on developer. If many people are having this problem and there is not apparent solution, why is Firefox continuing to hype this add on without warning about the negative consequences?
The Support Email button is to the right of the "About this Add-on" paragraph.
Sorry to be so dumb, but where do I find the "About this Add-on" paragraph. Can you please be more specific? Thanks
This is hopeless! I found the "support email" button located on the page describing the self destruct cookie app. However, when I clicked on the button, I was given the choice of g-mail or yahoo to send and e-mail to the developer. I have neither as I have an e-mail account through a university. Conclusion: this app, while well-intended is more trouble than it is worth.
You need to set up mailto for your email service provider or email client.
