Thunderbird does not have the option to set an exact font size when composing messages. Relative sizes may be acceptable to some, but they do not conform with many marketing and standards-based practices for many. Medium is generally too small for the mainstream, and yet Large is too far in the opposite direction. I have seen discussions related to this issue in the past (I cannot seem to find them, now) but the arguments that were given were not acceptable. Often the argument is that setting a relative font size allows the user to see your incoming email in the size that their email client has configured. Well, if that was truly the case, then why do I see my medium font returned in quoted text in their response in a very tiny and nearly unreadable size? We have very specific font sizes set for signatures; that I CAN control. However it is very inconsistent that the body of the email CANNOT be set to the same, exact font size. It look most unprofessional.

Please, please provide details as to how I can set an exact font size for my outgoing messages.

Here is what a response to me looks like...

Please, never, ever write to me. The font sizes on my screen are my decision, not yours. Fortunately Thunderbird allows me to override whatever you set in your messages.

This toolbar enhancement allows me to repair messages that have been screwed over by other email clients, notably Outlook:

ctrl+a, select required font size. (Note that it is in pixels.) Hope fervently that your choice suits your correspondents.
