How can I avoid/circumvent the Insescure Password Warning when connecting to LAN devices, e.g. modem/router and/or NAS/Server?

From Firefox 53.0 (64 Bit), whenever I attempt to log on to LAN devices, e.g. my router or NAS, I get the "Insecure Password Warning" message.

I normally connect to these devices by specifying the device's Hostname or IP in the URL. As these are local (not internet) addresses, should I be worried about the warning and, if so, what am I supposed to do about it? If not, should I simply ignore the warning or is there something I can do to keep it from popping up, e.g. a global setting to ignore LAN devices?

Thanks for all the responses.

I guess I will just put up with the warning and not worry about it each and every time I log in to the router or NAS :(

https://support.mozilla.org/t5/Protect-your-privacy/Insecure-password-warning-in-Firefox/ta-p/27861 There is a hidden preference to turn off the warning on the login form if it really annoys you and you think it will never be of value. Here's how: security.insecure_field_warning.contextual.enabled = False

Type about:config<enter> in the address bar. If a warning screen comes up, press the Be Careful button. At the top of the screen is a search bar.

In adddition :
In   about:config   you could also type and look for the preference : security.insecure_password.ui.enabled and set it's value to   false

The message is there to remind you that the credentials are being sent in clear text. Obviously you do not expect anyone to be sniffing your traffic on your internal network. The threat likely would be some kind of snoopware on a system with its LAN adapter set to promiscuous mode, either surreptitiously installed, or operated by a disgruntled or sloppy employee.

Thanks to all for the responses. My LAN is a home network (so no disgruntled employees, ;-)

It's obviously a good thing to get a warning if I'm going someplace on the internet where I'd expect a password to be secure.

I thought I had stumbled across something (a feature) whereby you can add exceptions for this warning. As the router is a static IP, and I can assign a static IP to the NAS, this might be a work around in these limited cases.

Now, if could only find that exceptions screen again...

Could it be that maybe you're thinking about the exceptions under
'Logins'   ? (3-bar menu => Options => Security) I'm afraid that woud still give you the warning, though.

No, the 3-bar => Options => Security wasn't it...

For some reason, I thought it (the exception option) was arrived at by clicking the "Learn More" in the warning pop-up (which brought me to the help/support page for the warning...

Home -> Firefox -> Protect your privacy -> Insecure password warning in Firefox

From there, I'm not sure what path I took to get to that (exception option).

I can get to the "Control Center - manage site privacy and security controls" page (screenshot attached) but can't locate the exception option I (thought I had) seen...

It wasn't

As I never get that warning pop-up,  all I can say is :   next time you get that pop-up, try again   .......
I can think of ways to set exceptions, but not the kind you are looking for. Maybe somebody else will see this and come to your rescue   -   I'll keep my fingers crossed for you   !
