Can't get login box after upgrade to 56

I upgraded to Firefox 56.0.1 for MacOS (10.12.3) yesterday morning and now cannot log in to Qantas (the Australian flag carrier airline) because the login box does not appear in Firefox nor do any text links work (ie the pointer doesn't change to a hand and you can't click on it.) No problem with Safari. Based on another thread and viewing the website with "Inspector" I guess that <script defer="" src="https://cdn.services.qantasloyalty.com/assets/widgets/login/v2/login.bundle.js"></script> is the problem but I have no clue as to how to sort this out. The URL is https://www.qantas.com/au/en.html In the other thread the poster said that the problem had been fixed. "This has been fixed, apparently the JS framework wrapper that sets the action method was being ignored in firefox 56. Accessing the dom form element directly (no the JS framework element), and setting the action value to the URL wanted, before submitting the form using JS, solved the issue. " However it certainly has not been fixed for me using MacOS. This website worked fine before the upgrade and is still working in Firefox 54.0.1 on my MacBook Air using MacOS X 10.10.5

I did not offer more as a solution as someone else may come along that will not be as drastic as I am. Maybe something can be done in about:config

Ya, I do not run Mac so now I know you can not update hardware unless get a new version #.

Ok if one is running fine that it possibly did not install properly. Give this a try : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/refresh-firefox-reset-add-ons-and-settings If the above fails go for a full uninstall and download Firefox Full installer (not the Stub) from here : https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/ With a bit of luck. Might work. If not your going to have dig out every folder of Mozilla Firefox on C: and in the registry.

Can give this a try : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/warning-unresponsive-script?cache=no as it relates to page issue but no error.

I do not know to much about this but you are testing Safe Browsing Version 4 (temporary add-on) 1.0.0 (sbv4-gradual-rollout@mozilla.com) This maybe the fault of the issue. Can you see if can turn that off in Extensions please. If not we will be able to help with that.

With other info sent I see no date for your video card drivers. Could you please see if there are updates for your AMD Radeon Pro 450 either through the program Control Panel or from https://support.amd.com/en-us

Could you please also update your Flash to latest release 5 days ago https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/ Step 1: Select Operating System Step 2: Select A Version (Firefox, Win IE . . . .) Note: Other software is offered in the download. <Windows Only>

I am not getting a warning for an unresponsive script. In Safari, the login box loads at the same times as the rest of the page and the same in Firefox 54, so I would be surprised if that could help.

I have removed Safe Browsing Version 4 - didn't help

In MacOS one is not meant to update drivers for integral hardware - it is done through systems updates. In fact the AMD page doesn't seem to have a driver update for MacOS

I have updated Flash. No help

Could you look at this thread, which seems to describe my problem: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1178939#answer-1015055 I suspect that the problem has been fixed in the Windows version but not in the MacOS version. (I have just launched Firefox 56.0.1 in another Mac running Windows 7 and it the Qantas site works fine.)

When I visit that page there is a red "tab" toward the upper right of the page that says Login. When I click that, a form drops down. Is that red tab missing for you, or does nothing happen when you click it?


I don't know whether you already tried "the usual:"

If a site is generally known to work in Firefox, these are general suggestions to try when it stops working correctly:

Cache and Cookies: When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.

(1) Clear Firefox's Cache

See: How to clear the Firefox cache

If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes. If you do not see the number going down on the page, you can reload it using Ctrl+r to check progress.

(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:

  • right-click (on Mac Ctrl+click) a blank area of the page and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
  • (menu bar) Tools > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
  • click the padlock or "i" icon in the address bar, then the ">" button, then More Information, and finally the "View Cookies" button

In the dialog that opens, the current site should be pre-filled in the search box at the top of the dialog so you can remove that site's cookies individually.

Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

Testing in Firefox's Safe Mode: In Safe Mode, Firefox temporarily deactivates extensions, hardware acceleration, and some other advanced features to help you assess whether these are causing the problem.

If Firefox is not running: Hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox.

If Firefox is running: You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
  • Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

and OK the restart.

Both scenarios: A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Refresh).

Why do you think that is the problem?

I don't think that thread has anything to do with the Qantas website. It sounds like a completely different site.
