Over the past few weeks I noticed I can't play correctly some videos on Firefox. It plays but the picture is just a bunch of colored bars that change
The obvious place I see this is on the commercials, on Crackle.com, CBS.com .
The video is playing and there are color bars that change color with the movement of the video, and the audio plays. This does not happen on all of the commercials, but pretty often. Other browsers don't have this issue.
Some other misc. sites that have videos have this same issue, on their videos or commercials.
I hoping Mozilla can fix this. Especially since this just started about a month or two back. Checked today, and it still has this problem. Windows 7 32 bit or Windows 7 64 Bit.

Update Video Card Drivers
uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files and C:\Program Files(x86) Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. (Note: This should be Pinned and run Weekly, If never done below expect 10's of gig's) Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do :

SAFE MODE
- https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Safe+Mode
- https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes
In Firefox Safe mode these changes are effective:
- all extensions are disabled (about:addons)
- default theme is used (no persona)
- userChrome.css and userContent.css are ignored (chrome folder)
- default toolbar layout is used (file: localstore-safe.rdf)
- Javascript JIT compilers are disabled (prefs: javascript.options.*jit)
- hardware acceleration is disabled (Options > Advanced > General)
- plugins are not affected
- preferences are not affected
TEST
You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.
- Options/Preferences -> General: Performance
remove checkmark: [ ] "Use recommended performance settings"
remove checkmark: [ ] "Use hardware acceleration when available" - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/performance-settings
Close and restart Firefox after modifying the setting to make the change effective.
I tried the Cor-el idea and it did nor have the color bar problem, but it has another problem now on this Crackle Video. https://www.crackle.com/lethal-weapon-2/2503803
It will play to the first or maybe the second commercial, and then just get stuck on the commercial. No way to move on in the movie, but to close the browser and then reopen it, clear browser history, and then try the Crackle movie again and move the movie timing to the spot just beyond the commercial mark. It would play to the next commercial and get stuck again, and I had to do the repeat of the above again to get to the next part of the movie. I even restored hardware acceleration, and that made it last a few breaks, but this other problem of getting stuck on a commercial, is a tough one. I gave up and played it through Avast safe Zone browser with the ad block off. Please FireFox get your browser back to the way it was. It was my most recommended browser. Now I don't know what to say.
