Firefox is connecting through svchost.exe
I notice firefox could still access some sites (google.com, yahoo.com) even when firefox.exe is blocked. It seems like its connecting through svchost.exe. I dont remember firefox doing this before and Im concerned since svchost is hard to monitor. Is this something new added to ff? Is there any settings I can turn this off and make it only connect through firefox.exe?

Hi, I do not have a single svchost.exe host running.
You decided not to share any information when you made your question so I can not comment on your Extensions that are in use nor the State of your Video Card drivers.
Please try : SAFE MODE
- https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Safe+Mode
- https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes
In Firefox Safe mode these changes are effective:
- all extensions are disabled (about:addons)
- default theme is used (no persona)
- userChrome.css and userContent.css are ignored (chrome folder)
- default toolbar layout is used (file: localstore-safe.rdf)
- Javascript JIT compilers are disabled (prefs: javascript.options.*jit)
- hardware acceleration is disabled (Options > Performance > Uncheck to view)
- plugins are not affected
- preferences are not affected

I was installing a fresh copy of firefox when I noticed this. I always block firefox.exe while setting it up and yet it still opened google and yahoo. During which only process connecting to the internet was svchost. So far these two URLs are the only ones I could open. Other sites will not connect while firefox.exe is blocked.
No addons and default settings. It still happened in safemode.
With the latest version of firefox please try blocking firefox.exe and go to google.com. I just checked and its happening on my other pc too.
Hi, I would think since Google is the Default search engine and that codecs in add-ons is WIldvine is Googles and that Firefox uses a safe browsing whitelist or blacklist that would be the answer for that.
As for Yahoo, I have no idea. Yahoo used to be the default, maybe there is left over code or you have something in your Profile if it was left and you only uninstalled the program or there is a forever cookie no , idea.
