I have a Pixel 2 phone and have installed Firefox Android. The display is pretty minimal. I cannot create a menu bar. I cannot create a search field. There seems to be an absence of features. Essentially, Firefox can't be used effectively. Yet, there appears to be a lot of instructions as to how I might customize Firefox to install useful features. All of these suggestions/instructions involve getting to the point of accessing "customize" on the menu drop-down. I don't find the "customize" option anywhere! I would conclude that Firefox for Android just can't be used on my phone, but there is so much posted text that purports to solve my issues. Can I get an updated version somehow? What can I do?

Hi John

Thank you for your question.

You can customise Firefox for Android by changing the theme and installing add-ons to change the funactionality. We do keep the design of Firefox for Android under review and some of the features you mention may be included in a future release.

I'm having the same (or similar) problem on a Motorola G6 running Android 8.0: Having installed the NoScript add-on, I need access to it during surfing to take advantage of the features I assume are there. (In Firefox for Windows I would use the "Customize" command on the menu to drag the NoScript icon to my toolbar.)

On my phone the usual Firefox menu is the only icon on what I assume to be the toolbar, but it's greyed out, and many of the familiar menu items show up the built-in menu at the top right (next to the search bar), as described in another post. "Customize" isn't there or elsewhere that I can find!

So is the empty space beside the defunct menu icon now useless? How can I get a "NoScript" (or other add-on) button to show up on the screen. Without this capability Firefox is nearly useless to me!

Please be more explicit in your reply. -- jclarkw

The Firefox for Android interface is not as flexible as desktop Firefox. There is no way to have a menu bar, search bar or adding icons to the interface.
