Hi,

today, I got the upgrade to Firefox for Android 79. There were several changes I noticed but didn't pay any attention to it. Many changes aren't important to me, some changes showed their importance only after I read some responses to this upgrade.

First and foremost: I miss the feature to gather links in the background and open them when I switch to Firefox. For me that's almost a dealbreaker as this was the feature that made me switch from Chrome to Firefox. Are there any plans to get "Open URLs in background" back?

A few responses mentioned that now we were unable to resort the list of open tabs. The tab list is not my favorite but I could live with it (the option to change it to tiles would be nice, though). But there are always situations when I want to reorder my tabs. Are there any plans to reintroduce tab sorting?

In respect to other missing features: Are there any plans to reintroduce them? Where can we find your roadmap for Firefox for Android (featurewise, technical details are mostly unimportant for end-users)?

I appreciate all the effort that went into this major overhaul of Firefox for Android. But I really miss a clear and concise communication of the changes, which features will be gone forever and which will be delivered in a later update. Your help articles not being up to date aren't helping either (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/open-links-background-later-viewing-firefox-android). There are some welcome new features in this release and I will give them a try. But I don't need a browser that does everything as all other major browsers. Scrolling through different apps and being able to send URLs to Firefox without losing focus seemed kind of unique to me.

Bests, Masin

Hi Masin

Thank you for your feedback.

The tab queue feature you mention and the other features that you may expect are things that may be included in a future update. I cannot be more specific than that at this time, but as you can see we are giving Firefox for Android a long due overall that I hope that you will like.

Well, I guess, the next few updates will be stability and bug fixes. I'll wait, then.

I also noticed that longpressing "back" doesn't work anymore. Browsing nested forum threads get kind of exhausting when navigating back. But I guess this is also one of those features on the roadmap.

Yes, it will be added soon.

Support for extensions! This was one of the main reasons I use FF and a major feature that set it apart from the rest. Only adblockers seem to be supported now and I'm not hopeful about the timeline for extension support.

I really appreciate Mozilla but it really frustrates me that an update broke almost all my extensions and there is no apparent way to revert. If I do it may also mean my Mozilla account is automatically deleted!

A legacy version would be greatly appreciated until issues are worked out.

Could use a Reply link up at the first question, Huh?

I don't like bitching about stuff since we all know the work right now is harder. Let me ask, do you test this stuff? Must not. I can't add a search engine. Anybody have this problem. Like Yahoo, I click add new search engine and I have to type some web address? Are you kidding me? Click search, + Add new search engine, not listed so I select other. Type in some name Yahoo now what is this https stuff. Yahoo is enough. You know what I want so go get it and ask me to install it. Why all this crap? Why isn't Yahoo listed in the defaults anyway? I'm sorry, Censorship is a bad thing. Why don't the search engines sync anyway? I noticed setting I made in search engines like removing Duckapoo and after every update it's back on. You know about this stuff because it was mentioned many times. Hope you guys can work it out. We need an alternative so keep plugging, Thanks.
