I just changed my password for my Google Drive account, and now I can't get into Thunderbird to use my email. I'm using a Macbook Air (Mohave 10.14.6) and Thunderbird (78.10.1).

I've tried putting in both my new and old Google passwords to no avail. I think maybe the problem is with the incoming server (pop or imap). when I follow the instructions at https://xneelo.co.za/help-centre/email/reset-password-thunderbird/

I see the smtp address, but not any imap or pop server address.

Can you help me?

Remove the passwords from Saved Passwords in Preferences/Privacy & Security, and in the same section check the box to accept cookies. Check that the authentication for the incoming and outgoing servers is OAuth2, and that the server settings are imap.gmail.com on 993 or pop.gmail.com on 995, smtp.gmail.com on 465; SSL/TLS security, User Name = email address. Then restart TB and enter the account password in the OAuth window when prompted.

I was able to remove the passwords, but that's all. Nothing there about accepting cookies, authentication, serving settings numbers (e.g., 993), or SSL/TLS security. When I tried entering the account password after restarting TB, I still got the same error message, "login failed."

Accept cookies is a checkbox in Preferences/Privacy & Security, Web Content. Server settings are under Tools/Account Settings or Account Settings under the 3-bar menu icon. Conform the password by logging in on the gmail website.
