ETRADE financial investing pages do not display properly
When I browse to ETRADE (ETRADE financial investing pages) they do not display properly. There are many items on the page in which text says what should be showing but does not. Such as: right-arrow or some other icon which does not display properly. This problem is aking the entire ETRADE website unusable.
note: this problem happened a long while ago, then was corrected, and now it is there again.
You go to ETRADE.com (the login page is alright), then go to Markets research,.. US markets and you will see that the Search box and other fields are not correct. This is even worse on the Portfolio page.

You see little boxes with the hex code of the character or text labels if you do not have a font installed that covers this Unicode range or block downloadable fonts.
Small icons can be supplied by an iconic font that is downloaded from the server via @font-face CSS rules. If you have content blocking extensions then make sure that you do not block remote fonts. Also make sure you allow pages to choose their own fonts.
- Settings -> General: Fonts & Colors -> Advanced
[X] "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above"
You can check gfx.downloadable_fonts.enabled on the about:config page and make sure it is set to true and if necessary click its reset button to set its value to true.
my setting for "gfx.downloadable_fonts.enabled" is 'true'
As I stated in the original message, without any known change by me, ETRADE once displayed problematic (8-10 months ago) then became correct, and now just recently became the same problem once again. Jim Riley I use HP Windows PC desktop with Windows 10 and updates.
Can you attach a screenshot?

- use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot
Did you check the setting in "Fonts & Colors" ?
Settings -> General: Fonts & Colors -> Advanced [X] "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above"
When I opened Settings (on Windows 10) I did not find a GENERAL category and so also did not find any tab named Fonts & Colors. I found something about fonts and also a different item for colors separately, but none had that configuration option about pages choosing their own fonts.
I appreciate the help, I know of no setting I changed to make this not work again.
I have attached a picture of my screen shoing multiple places with overlayed text, search box mess, and stock names all imposed upon. Jim Riley
This is about the Settings page (about:preferences) in Firefox.
This can happen if you block remote fonts that are downloaded from internet or otherwise block website fonts. If you use uBlock Origin make sure not to "block remote fonts".
The website uses the Material Icons font if I check this in the Inspector.
You can check the Web Console for font messages.
