Thanks for the reply. I followed the directions in the link you provided. The Manage Your Extensions page displayed. There was only one extension that showed to be installed: DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials, which was not what I was looking for. So I went to the Firefox Settings page and under Search category I noticed this: Default Search Engine This is your default search engine in the address bar and search bar. You can switch it at any time. DuckDuckGo was selected. This was what I had been looking for. A few times when using a web site I thought my cursor was in the web site`s search box but when I typed it appeared in the address bar. So the Default Search Engine setting explained what I had experienced. I couldn`t leave the selection blank so I selected a different search engine. Thanks for the help.
