I have been having a tremendous problem with these 'Bad Request' errors. I'd say 40-50% of the pages I try to open from a link fail. I think it began happening prior to the Firefox v..3.6.10 upgrade, but I can't be certain.

I have tried following cor-el's fix, with no success. I have also renamed the cookies.txt and cookies.sqlite files as per another fix I found. It seemed to improve it for 10-15 links, then it was back as bad as ever.

What I have found is I can work around it. I have an option in my main context menu that allows me to save the current URL to the clipboard. I don't remember if this is from an add-on or not. I also have an add-on that places an icon on my toolbar that allows me to open the URL on the clipboard in the current tab, or a new tab. If I use these two features, I can open the link 99% of the time.

I have also scanned for a malware bug purported to cause this problem, but it was not present.

This is making Firefox almost un-usable for the long term. If FF v 4.0 doesn't fix it. I may reluctantly be forced to use Chrome.

As a test you can try to run Firefox in Private Browsing - Use Firefox without saving history mode.

In PB mode Firefox uses a separate set of cookies and also the disk cache is disabled. New cookies are still created according to the settings in Tools > Options > Privacy, but they expire if PB mode is ended. If that works then you may have security software that corrupts the cookies.sqlite file.
