How to turn off FF 3.6.10 auto downloads?
I use a 3rd-party dl manager (which works just fine with FF), and I need to turn off FF's built-in dl manager. I find various options to configure FF's dl manager, but not one to completely turn it off. Is that possible? I don't mind editing the registry, if that's what it takes. WinXP Pro SP3, all latest security patches.

You can use the FlashGot extension to integrate that download manage in Firefox and disable the build-in Firefox Download Manager.
I also wish to shut off auto download .. ... i will be using flashget for most dl's
maybe there is a setting that will work better for me in W7 .???
Download stops (wont restart) seems to be my energy savings settings .. (which i like) hibernate sleep things .. let me try my ie7 for a while be back laer
