This seems to have started after upgrading Firefox to 3.6.15.

I found this answer on Yahoo!Answers:

  • Go under tools
  • Click on add ons
  • Highlight yahoo toolbar
  • Go to options and change the skin
  • Click on "I'm done"
  • The toolbar should open the way it's supposed to.

I then went back and selected "No skin" and the toolbar stayed on.

I did 2 things. 1. open Firefox, and in the address line type about:config and enter. right click in the main window, and click NEW Boolean. Type the following preference name: extensions.checkCompatability.4.0. click OK, and then set the value to false. (This is default) Close Firefox and restart. I got this from a PC World article, and it worked for about 5 times and the the yahoo toolbar disappeared again.

So, in the address bar, I again typed about:config again and enter. I scrolled down to yahoo.ytff true .toolbar.upgraded; True I right clicked on the word True and clicked modify. I typed in the word false and entered, closed and restarted Firefox 4 and I have not had this trouble since. I have done everything from full screen to you name it. The toolbar remains and everything works fine. I hope it helps because this irritated me. Dale Morse in Texas.
