firefox redirects to google when server not found [SOLVED]
As previously posted in thread https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/925517 (now locked to I cannot update it with the solution - maybe someone can append this solution to that thread?)
firefox redirects to google when server not found
If I make a typo in the address bar (such as ww instead of www), instead of getting a message saying the website cannot be found, Firefox has started taking me to a Google page searching for the URL I typed in.
SOLUTION: This was caused by the EasyFundRaising toolbar from http://www.easyfundraising.org.uk (which I think might be based on the Google Toolbar?)
After disabling this plugin, the problem went away. I have notified EasyFundRaising of this issue.

Thanks for posting a solution. I have appended details to the original thread and marked that as solved.
I had this same issue but not that same add-on, plug-in, or whatever. There is a link on the page that says "Why did I get this page?" If you click on it, you get these instructions - "Why did I get this page? Your Community Toolbar detected that the page you wanted was not found, and offered you an alternative, more helpful Search page. This takes the place of the generic page usually displayed, called a 404 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/404_error) or DNS error page.
To disable this feature, please click the Toolbar Options item in your toolbar’s menu, open the Additional Settings tab, and clear the check box next to: "Show an alternate search page when web pages are not found."
Please note that this feature may not be available for all Community Toolbars."
I found that if I clicked on the very right of a toolbar (I use the Zynga game toolbar) and clicked on Settings, I was able to find the checkbox they are talking about. I unchecked it and now I don't get redirected.
