I just upgraded to Firefox 17.0.7 on Centos Linux 5.2 (yes I know, I will upgrade soon) and the bookmarks keep getting erased. The last couple of days I could restore them from the backups, but now that gives : "Unable to process the backup file."

Also, the down arrow that used to show recent entries in the URL box doesn't show any of them. (Kind of the same problem.)

Thanks,

Jon

Well, I figured the profile was messed up, so I just started a new profile and imported the backup from the old one. Really, the only important thing was the bookmarks.

Now, everything seems to be working OK.

Thanks,

Jon

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox profile folder and possibly delete the places files.

If it happens again then you can try to delete all places files. That should be sufficient to make bookmarks and restoring bookmarks work again.
