Can my default Personnel Address Book be changed to automatically go to my imported Outlook address book?

When I want to save an email address in my imported Outlook Book I have to save to Thunderbirds default Personnel Book first, then "edit" and move to Outlook. I'd like them to automatically default to the Outlook box.

There doesn't seem to be any choice in saving an address in a particular address book. It always goes to the Personal Address Book.

When you send an email, the addressee is stored in the Collected Addresses.

Simply confirmed what I suspected. Seems like there ought to be a way to make an address book a default, but I too had not discovered a way to date. I've shut off the sending/saved email option as that is of little use to me.

You would need an addon to do what you want. Addon : morefunctionsForAddressBook

How to install addon: Download the .xpi file to eg: desktop or Downloads folder.

In Thunderbird

  • Tools > Addons OR Menu icon > Addons
  • click on the gear wheel icon and select 'Install addon from file'
  • locate the .xpi file you downloaded and click on 'Open'
  • You may need to restart Thunderbird.

How to use the addon:

  • Select email to read in Message Pane
  • Click on the eg: From email address
  • select: Save recipients addresses > As Contacts(all)
  • a small window opens.
  • choose the address book and click on 'OK'

If this answer does what you require, please choose as 'Chosen Solution'
