I need to get two Thunderbird address books on two different computers to be the same. I need to transfer about 30->40 contact cards (out of about 250 on each machine) from each computer to the other.

Any suggestions on doing this without importing entire address books?

Couple of options:

Either create a mailing list and add only those contacts you want to export. Then select the Mailing list and click on Tools > Export. You can then save as .csv file.

then you can import that .csv file as an address book. Then move all contacts into whatever address book you wish or leave as is. Mailing lists:

The other option would be to use an Addon: MorefunctionsforAddressBooks https://nic-nac-project.org/~kaosmos/morecols-en.html

Download .xpi file to desktop Tools > Addons OR Menu Icon > Addons click on gear wheel icon and select 'Install addon from file' locate the file you downloaded and click on Open.

Once installed, in Address Book You can select / highlight various contacts right click on highlighted contacts and choose 'Export' and select from options...export as text, vcard or .csv
