My Outlook Calendar enables me to have a different colour for each category of a new event,Can I do this with your calendar ?

Also I have tried installing the lightning add on several times but nothing called lightning is anywhere to be seen.... Or is that just your normal calendar.

I cannot find any button on the left hand side called install Lightning - I found a cog wheel button top right and clicked install from file then restarted Thunderbird but again no mention of Lightning so I have just clicked Calendar - Is this right ?
