Often firefox tries to overide the current on top application window covering the current window open making it impossible to read. Each time I have to click on the applications tab to get it to display on top again.

It is incredibly annoying as it covers not only other open windows but message boxes and save boxes.

It happens often enough that if I am doing anything serious I close firefox.

I have this myself. I don't know the cause.

Any other users experience this, any solution out there?

Make sure that you do not run Firefox in full screen mode (press F11 or Fn + F11 to toggle; Mac: Command+Shift+F).

Cor-el I never run in full screen mod, always windowed and still it pops up in front of other windows I am actively working.

Fred It isn't that the position is not saved, i will have firefox minimized whilst working on another window and suddenly it will pop up over the screen i was working on.

Follow the instructions in the link. It could fix the "on top" problem.

I have tried that before with no luck

Are there plugins like Flash active in a tab when this happens?

You can set plugins to "Ask to Activate" on the "Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Plugins" page.
