On March 14, 2015, I received a sudden message on my PC, that I was one of the top mozilla search engine users. I was thus offered to fill in an online form to allow me take part in a competition for a reward. In retrospect I am concerned because the online form required me to fill in my personal details. I would like to know if it is the genuine Mozilla who conduced this competition/reward or maybe I have been cheated out of my personal data.

hi kelvin2015, i'm afraid that this was a scam as mozilla doesn't run that kind of competitions or surveys. this is going on for quite a while making use of the popularity of well known brands: http://blog.gerv.net/2011/08/hoax_mozilla_firefox_online_promo/ if you still happen to have the url of the site present in your browser history, please report it to https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/legal/fraud-report/ so that further steps can be taken. thank you!

The unfortunate part is that near the end of the filling in of the form, giving my personal data, a message appeared on the screen reading ERROR. As I tried to figure out what the source of the error could have been, the message and the form both disappeared suddenly. A check on the URL indicated nothing i.e no trace. This form had come as a flash on the screen of my laptop, while I was studying other things and it disappeared in a similar flash-like manner. This is what triggered my worry. Sadly it appeared to have genuinely come from Mozilla and as an ardent Mozilla user I acted on impulse to answer this apparent Mozilla request/ questionnaire!!!!!!!! I dont really know how this can be unearthed and solved. It bothers me so much....If you are aware of any organization which can solve this please let me know.
