Hallo All

I am using Fireefox 3.6 04 on a win7 64byte laptop.

I would like to organise some of my bookmarks into new folders but the "organise" options are all greyed out except "select all" and "copy". Does anyone have any ideas why this would be. The only references I have found so far relate to Apple operating systems and i thought for once I really was going to get organised! Any ideas gratefully appreciated and Happy Easter to all anyway.

You can only organize individual folders and bookmarks and not one of the three root folder that show in the screenshot. You need to open one of the folders to be able to move bookmarks in that folder to another folder.

There are three main Bookmarks folders and bookmarks can only be created in one of those folders and its sub folders.

  • The "Bookmarks Toolbar" folder stores the bookmarks that you see on the Bookmarks Toolbar (Firefox > Options or View > Toolbars).
  • The "Bookmarks Menu" folder stores bookmarks that show in the Bookmarks menu and are created via "Bookmarks > Bookmark This Page" or via "Bookmark This Link" in the right-click context menu.
  • The "Unsorted Bookmarks" folder stores bookmarks that are created by clicking the star at the right end of the location bar.
