The download appears to start but the progress bar just keeps animating. I never get a time left on my download indicator. Every time I open Firefox I get a message to upgrade to V 38.01. I still can get on Firefox but this is annoying.

Please go to www.getfirefox.com and download the latest version of Firefox. Install it over your current install of Firefox and you will be up to date.

I did this but it still installed V 29.01.

If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then best is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.

Download a new copy of the Firefox application and save the disk image file to the desktop
