In the at least the last 3 updates on Firefox used in Windows XP SP3, we have not had visiblility of checkboxes (radio buttons). The checkboxes are there as is evidenced by running over the area with the mouse and they are functional, but there is no display of the "box" or the description of action to be taken.

You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

You need to close and restart Firefox after toggling this setting.

Make sure that you allow pages to choose their own colors, see:

  • Tools > Options > Content : Fonts & Colors > Colors : Override the colors specified by the page with my selections above
