Every time I try to download mail from Yahoo, this alert pops up!

"The folder inbox is full, and cannot hold anymore messages. To make room for more messages, delete any old or unwanted mail and compact the folder."

THERE IS NO MAIL IN THE FOLDER! I have emptied ALL my inbox folders, BUT still get the alert when I try to download my Yahoo mail. YES I have gone to the Yahoo site AND only a few email is on the server. I get the alert even when there is NO MAIL TO DOWNLOAD.

Thank you for your time.

Chosen solution

If you emptied folders you have performed half of the instructions. Try Compacting the folders like the instructions say to do.

In Thunderbird hitting the delete button on a message marks it for deletion and hides it from view. Compacting removes the message and frees up the space.

After compacting ALL of my (4) accounts, I finally got the message :compacting done!" It used to compact automatically but for last few months it has not, so I must have changed a setting , BUT I cannot find the change yet!

Thank you for your time!
