Over 100 emails in my in-box have been deleted without any action on my part. Where are they? Other emails received this morning - since the bulk were removed - have also been lost. What is going on with Thunderbird?

The most common cause of this on Windows is Anti virus programs deleting the entire contents of the inbox to get at something they do not understand. This is exacerbated by people clicking Automatic for fixing the issues anti virus program invent.

Check your anti virus program logs for a file inbox and what it has done with it.

On some occasions system interactions will see the index of mail end up corrupt. Right click the folder, select properties and then the repair button to rebuild the index.
