How do I remove a master password?

more options

To my knowledge I never had a master password. However Thunderbird continually asks me to enter one. I have tried to follow the instructions for creating or removing a master Password but to no avail. I cannot change or remove a password that I do not have. There should be some technique for addressing this problem (recovering a forgotten password). I am sure it must be a simple process, but can someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks

Are you seeing the dialog box that refers to the password for the Software Security Device like shown in the linked article? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/protect-your-thunderbird-passwords-master-password

If not, then it is NOT the Thunderbird master password being asked for.

If you are really talking about a Thunderbird Master Password, the linked article tells you how to remove it.

You were much more helpful than the Thunderbird "Help" instructions.

Thanks

I never even try the Thunderbird Help articles. I Google what I am looking for.
