I have ver. 56.0 (64 bit) of FF. I inadvertently deleted the star creating bookmarks and all my bookmarks. Tried to restore bookmarks via help, but when I log out of about:config, the value reverts from 0 to 8. Tried both closing and re-opening FF as well as re-starting my computer. Nothing works. How do I restore my bookmarks?

Chosen solution

My friend suggested using "customize" on the three lines and moving the bookmarks folder, rather than about:configure. Tried it and the bookmarks were restored. Problem solved.
