How do I stop a porn site from popping up?

I use Wordfind.com and recently started using Firefox as my browser. A porn site has started popping up uninvited. It knows what city I live in and asks if I am available... I cleared my history hoping that stops it but I am still worried it will come back. Can I block porn through a browser?
