When I initially wake my laptop from Hybrid sleep on Windows 10 and open a new tab on Firefox v57, then perform a search, it just hangs there . If I close and open Firefox and perform the same action, the search is successful.

Ah yes. That explains much more. Thank You.

Yes understand it is a issue. It is Firefox not wanting to sleep due to keeping your tabs updated, writing to Session Restore a gig and hour.

Not sure of any answers yet.

Though there is this : https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/tab-suspender-tab-unloader/ As to it working. No idea.

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files and C:\Program Files(x86) Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. (Note: This should be Pinned and run Weekly, If never done below expect 10's of gig's) Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/back-and-restore-information-firefox-profiles

Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 57.0.2 with a Full Version Installer https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/

Hi, Unfortunately it hasn't resolved the problem. I am sure the problem is to with Firefox not closing down when I use "hybrid sleep", which is part of the feature of "hybrid sleep", which keeps all programmes open. Where as, if I use shut down/open, or restart my laptop, firefox has to be opened.

Hi, The tab-unloader fix seems to have solved the problem, but as I said at the beginning, this problem only materialised with the introduction of ver57. The fix is only a work round, rather than a system solution. So if possible could you raise it with the Firefox developer as I am sure you would be able to explain it in more technical detail than I can.

Thanks for all your assistance . Regards, Dave.

Hi, I spoke to soon when I said it fixed the problem, maybe I didn't leave the laptop long enough in Hybrid sleep mode, but when I woke it up this morning I had the same problem with Firefox.

Hi, Ignore my last message. Tab loader had not suspended the tabs, even though it states it will suspend after 30 minutes. On checking the settings 5 tabs needs to been open for the suspension to work. Changed it to 1 and when I woke up my laptop, Firefox completed searches almost immediately. I have tried this over a number of days and it has worked every day. So you are spot on with your analysis on what the problem is.
