I then went to preferences and support... "How does built-in Phishing and Malware Protection work?" And tried to test phishing, malware and unwanted software and was forwarded for all three options to

http://itisatrap.org/firefox/its-a-trap.html It said...

"Deceptive site ahead Firefox blocked this page because it may trick you into doing something dangerous like installing software or revealing personal information like passwords or credit cards."

Do I have a problem?

Hi fallsguy, I think those are two different features:

(1) For secure sites, does the certificate match the address and was it validly issued or could it be a fake (light colored page with no link to proceed)

(2) Is the site on the list of sites reported to distribute malware or run phishing scams (red page with a link to proceed)

It's hard to know why a temporary issue occurred. Especially if it cleared up without your having to do anything.

If you see #1 again, could you check out these articles:

If you see #2, which would surprise me for that site, make sure the address is exactly correct and not a copycat, or try accessing the site using a bookmark or a trusted search engine listing.

This page --

http://itisatrap.org/firefox/its-a-trap.html

-- is just a demonstration of what the malware/phishing site warning looks like. It's not a tool to do anything on your system.

If you want to actually scan your system for malware, then you can use the tools mention in Pkshadow's reply.
